Minginui - Easter 2010

A nice couple of days were spent in and around Minginui. A great spot as always with some really nice tracks. We met up with Griff, Karen and Jordyn on Sunday and traveled with them from the Napier/Taupo road through to Minginui via various forestry roads. Griff assured us he would not get us lost in the bowels of the forest and I must say it was a tangle of look alike roads in there but after an hour or two and a few hesitant turns we popped safely out at the Minginui camp. Well done him. As we had not planned to camp we left Griff and Karen to set up tent at Pigeon Camp and went in search of more grand accommodation. The lovely old Jailhouse B&B was bursting at the seams with mountain bikers so no luck there although the nice man offered us the floor of his garage. We did eventually find a bed for the night but that is another story. Next morning we joined Griff back at Pigeon Camp and after enjoying a leisurely early morning cup of tea in the quiet of the bush we set off to explore some of the many tracks in the area before heading home later in the day. Thanks to Griff, Karen and Jordyn for a great two days. Trevor and Jan

Trevor needed just a little help from Griff!
