SF70 - June 2010

Thanks to everyone that came to SF70 on Sunday. There was a good turnout for such a cold day. We ended up with 10 vehicles. Check out the photos above, including the bottom left one of Marcel, Ben and Griff trying to fix Marcels Landy, on the way home. The fan blade broke and put a hole in the radiator. Nothing industrious men couldn't fix. Thanks for your help in getting home!

Hope everyone that came had a good time and look forward in doing it again soon.

Brass Monkey Weekend at Minginui

The following is a school article written by Cameron Parr before his trip to Minginui. Check out the article following this and the photos that tell what an awesome weekend it was.

MY WEEKEND

This weekend I am going to Minginui to go four wheel driving. We are camping for 2 nights. We are taking my brother's car, it is a Series 1 LandRover. We are going with the LandRover Club. My Dad is the President of the LandRover Club. There are cabins to sleep in. There will be lots of mud and winching. We've been there before. There is a really steep hill. We have cleared the track a lot. One of the tracks there has got a tree through the middle of it. We had to use the saws to cut down the trees. It took a long time and a lot of work. We had already cleared a small tree that had fallen down. It was really fun.

A group of us went to Minginui for the weekend. There were 18 in total. We stayed at the DOC camp. It was my first time at the camp and I was really impressed how comfortable it was. There were flushing toilets! What a bonus. Some went and did a walking track on the Saturday while the rest went four wheel driving. The weather was a bit grotty but nothing we couldn't handle. Vinny had another outing. On Sunday we all went out four wheel driving and cleared another track. Check out some of the pictures I took. I am sure others have more to add. PS. Happy birthday Colin.

Vinny's Update

Daniel is very pleased to report that Vinny is now registered. A big thank you to all those that have helped him with this project - he is one very happy chappy. The following is a photo and video clip of Daniel and Vinny on their first outing - taken at the Fun Day held on Playne's farm recently. A great day and a good turnout of members, unfortunately it was rained out in the afternoon.

Video of Daniel's very first drive of Vinny.
