Over the last few trips to Pureora, Peter Bowler showed around some great tracks.
But!
There always seemed to be more on each side of the main roads in and out of where we went. Over grown and heading up into the bush or pines, or dropping out of sight below road level.
Sounds like an excuse to go for a drive and find a few places to get stuck.
Yup. . .
The rut was deep enough to dump the truck on it's side if you took the wrong line.
Here, Griff tries to take that wrong line. . .
Most of the tracks looped around on themselves and then back onto the main track and either headed through native bush, pine forest or skirted the boundary between the two. One of the tracks looked like it had been attacked by serious gear, the ruts being well over 35" tyre depth.
Eventually we ended up following a loop track that led us back to the far end of Bog Inn, a track we had tried last time. . .
