Kaimai Tag-A-Long

It was a perfect autumn morning for the Kaimai-Tag-Along fundraiser.

The day started in typical relaxed country style with morning tea and scrumptious home baking put on by a group of friendly school kids and helpers.

Approximately 60 vehicles lined up with a good contingent of Landy club members. We traveled over various farms along the foothills toward the Mamaku area, mainly on farm tracks and races with some creek crossings and bush patches. Evidence of wild pigs in one area with a couple of pig skins draped over the fence proving a catch.

Our lunch stop was at an old disused lodge in a nice bush setting. Sausages were soon sizzling with home baking again on offer.

Over the relatively small area we covered it was surprising to see the difference in farms and the different farming methods. One farm had a fascinating water reticulation system with a series of old water rams pumping and squirting away, gravity fed from high points.

It was a good day with some nice views, a good mix of vehicles and great company. The day presented no great challenges but we did notice a BOP club member being towed back to Tauranga and it wasn't a Land Rover.

Our thanks go to the organisers and the land owners.

The GranKids made me do it - yeah right!
